Beat Radio, 97.7 FM. 391-BEAT. http://www.beatworld.com. A new low-power radio station, Beat Radio, began broadcasting out of Minneapolis this past July. Offering dance music aficionados house, techno, hip hop and trip hop, Beat Radio airs weekdays from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. on the weekends. Local club DJs account for approximately 50% of the station's programming, ranging from Donna Summer to Aphex Twin. Because it's unlicensed by the FCC, its signal can be difficult to pick up far from outside the downtown and uptown areas. The upside is, if you do receive it, they don't air commercials, so you can shake your booty all night without being interrupted.
