With the Minnesota Music Awards approaching, the folks at Beat Radio should get a special award as "local heroes." For roughly two-and-a-half years, they've been fighting the FCC (who confiscated their equipment) for the rights of those without multimillion-dollar backers to run low-power radio stations that address their immediate communities. Still in the thick of the battle, Beat Radio continues to keep the dance music going. Tonight's event includes nine deejays on two levels of "The Ave." Word has it that this will be the first major event to use the club's new sound system. The finest spinning to be found this week.
